Character Transfer, Server Populations, and You (Part II)
Later this summer, we’re taking steps to further strengthen destination server population. Ultimately, we are working to transition all players to designated destination servers in the Free Character Transfer Service.
To continue to enhance the overall gameplay experience for current and new players, we have eliminated the option to create new characters on selected origin servers. Visit www.swtor.com/transfer to see a list of all the selected origin servers that will be affected.
Later this summer, any remaining characters on selected origin servers will be automatically moved to designated destination servers. We will provide additional details regarding the automatic character transfer process at that time.
For more information, please visit this article.
Thanks again for your participation and support!

Earn Rewards for Free Character Transfers
The response to the Free Character Transfer Service so far has been fantastic. Hundreds of thousands of players have already taken advantage of this free service to move their characters to new servers where it’s easier to find groups and play with friends. This initial service is still available and allows qualifying characters to be transferred at no charge from selected origin servers to selected destination servers.
In appreciation for the community’s support of the Free Character Transfer service, we are giving all characters on qualifying servers (including all destination servers) an in-game pet, the Gannifari, and 25 Black Hole Commendations to help purchase high level gear. Visit www.swtor.com/transfer for a list of qualifying servers.
If you haven’t moved your characters yet, it’s not too late. Transfer now to receive these in-game rewards!
Endearing and curious, the Gannifari makes a great sidekick!

You all know I will speak my mind about MMO’s if you like it or not ! I have to tip my hat to #bioware for making #SWTOR 1.3 patch very good and useful. It is a well needed update. I will list a few things that make this update the best one yet.
1) GROUP FINDER – It works great !
2) Weekly Priority Targets Quest – Gets you to explore the planets.
3) Quest linking
4) Graphics upgraded
There is much more , but this is what I like best so far.
PS: The funny thing I died and sat there..I forgot to respawn until some one said respawn..lol I was just having so much fun. I was the taunting tank I needed to get back…lol
BioWare and LucasArts announced today that the latest free game update for the award-winning MMO, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, Game Update 1.3 – Allies, is available now. Allies delivers many of the game features the community has been asking for, including Group Finder, Ranked PvP Warzones, Adaptive Gear, new enhancements to the Legacy system and more.
“We are living up to our commitment in setting a new bar for what players should expect from a premium MMO service,” said Matthew Bromberg, General Manager of BioWare Austin. “In just six months, we have already released three major game updates that have added new content and game features that have addressed the feedback from our fans. And we are just getting started. By the end of this year, we are adding more Warzones, more Flashpoints, more Operations, more updates to the Legacy System, new companions, new storylines and more. We are very excited about the future.”
Game Update 1.3 – Allies includes the following new features:
· Group Finder – will make it much easier for players to join up with others in the game. This feature allows you to connect with other players who want to tackle the same Flashpoint or Operation that you do while also ensuring the group is filled out with combat disciplines that complement each other. Together you’ll be better prepared to take on the more advanced challenges in the game.
· Ranked Warzones – make PvP more challenging and more rewarding. You can now create a group, compete in ranked warzones, and then track your personal performance and measure your skills against other players.
· Legacy Character Perks – perks give you the opportunity to customize the leveling experience for your Legacy characters. You can focus on the parts of the game you like best, whether that’s space combat, PvP,or Group Missions and Flashpoints, you can choose which activities earn the most experience. The perks give you other bonus opportunities as well, like piloting a vehicle at level 10, earning bonus affection with companions, and even being able to reallocate your skill points in the field.
· Adaptive Gear – allows you to wear your favorite social gear into combat while still enjoying the bonuses you receive from your best combat gear. We’ll almost certainly be seeing more eccentric-looking groups tackling high-level operations, but that’s part of the fun.
I talk about all the changes in this update !
Spy Guy says: Excellent points all around. Both SWTOR and Guild Wars 2 built up a massive hype train before launch, and it’s clear that SWTOR’s derailed not long after release. Does ArenaNet have what it takes to stay on track?
Sign up to playtest Game Update 1.3
Game Update 1.3 is almost ready for deployment onto the Public Test Server. We still need to finalize a few things, but we wanted to let you know that the Public Test Server will be coming down soon so that we can prep Game Update 1.3 for PTS deployment. You can expect the Public Test Server to come back up with Game Update 1.3 in the next few weeks.
Game Update 1.3 is focused around the new Group Finder function, which will help you find other players to group up with for Flashpoints and Operations easily. In addition, the Legacy System has been updated with purchasable character perks. Leveling a new Legacy character can now be customized to your preferred play style.
Our Character Copy tool is still in testing, so we are again using a manual process to copy characters from our Live servers to our Public Test Server. We have streamlined this process to ensure we can get as many players as possible copied to the PTS if they choose to help test our new systems.
If you would like to help us out in testing Game Update 1.3, please visit the following link and follow the directions within:
We cannot guarantee that every character will copy to the PTS successfully, however we can assure you that characters on Live servers will not be affected in any way should the tool fail.
Please do not contact Customer Support with questions regarding PTS Character Copies, as they will be unable to assist you at this time.
Thanks in advance!
Revealed at last year’s New York Comic-Con and scheduled to be released in November 2012, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Annihilation marks New York Times bestselling author (and Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ writer) Drew Karpyshyn’s second novel set in the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO universe.
Drew’s previous novel, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan, focused on the eponymous character’s continuing storyline beyond the original Knights of the Old Republic video game and leading into Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Annihilation is set right after the events of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Emperor is believed dead and the Sith Empire prepares a massive counter-attack against the Republic spearheaded by Darth Karrid, the former apprentice of Darth Malgus. The instrument of her vengeance is the Ascendent Spear, a devastating warship augmented with the dark side of the Force. Republic agent SIS Theron Shan, his Twi’lek smuggler compadre, Teff’ith, and Jedi Master Gnost-Dural are joined by Jedi Grand Master Satele Shan and Jace Malcom in a fast-paced, tension-fraught thriller.
We managed to catch up with Drew to ask him a few questions regarding Annihilation.
Drew, can you tell us what Star Wars: The Old Republic fans can look forward to in your new book?
Annihilation gives readers a closer look at several characters that will play important roles in future updates for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Satele Shan, head of the Jedi Order; Jace Malcom, the Supreme Commander of the Republic military and Darth Marr, senior ranking member on the Dark Council are all featured in the novel, along with Jedi Master Gnost-Dural and of course Theron Shan, Satele’s secret son.
Do you recommend that people finish their storylines in Star Wars: The Old Republic before picking up the book?
Annihilation is set after the events of the class stories in Star Wars: The Old Republic, so there are things that I reference and mention that may serve as spoilers to people who haven’t finished the storylines. The balance of power between the Empire and the Republic has changed quite a bit by the time the class storylines in SWTOR are done, and the galaxy is a very different place.
The main protagonist of your novel is Theron Shan, who was featured in the comic book series, Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Lost Suns. Can you give us a bit of background on him and his relation to the rest of the Star Wars: The Old Republic universe?
Theron is Satele Shan’s son, though she gave him up at birth to be raised by her Mentor, Ngani Zho. He’s also a descendant of Revan and Bastila Shan from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game. However, Theron isn’t attuned to the Force and he isn’t a Jedi – he’s actually one of the top field agents for Republic Strategic Information Services. This gives him a slightly different perspective on the galaxy and life in general.
Since the book takes place after Star Wars: The Old Republic, does this mean that it will provide a definitive ending to the game?
The great thing about The Old Republic universe is that there are so many great stories happening at the same time. The events of the novel comprise a stand-alone story, just as the class stories in the game. Like the class stories, Annihilation is an epic tale that has a major influence on the galactic struggle between the Empire and the Republic, but it focuses on Theron and the events surrounding his mission with the SIS and I’ve worked hard to make sure the book doesn’t over write or negate any of the choices players make with their own class stories..
Where did the idea for this novel come from?
As with all The Old Republic novels, Annihilation was a chance for us to dig a little deeper into things that aren’t given a major focus in the game. But we also wanted to explore the changes that take place because of the class stories and the actions of players within the game. Annihilation looks at how the Empire and Republic stand after the events of the game, and it sets up key characters and events that will be featured in future releases for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
November is still pretty far away…can you leave us with a little tease about the book?
I don’t want to give too much away, but I can say that Theron Shan is a great character to work with. He’s a bit of a departure from my Revan or Bane novels, which focus on powerful Force users, but Annihilation really shows how much of an impact a non-Jedi, non-Sith hero can have on the Star Wars™ galaxy.
I’m giving away 3 codes for the Tauntaun Fawn pet from Pax East 2012 that was the only way to get it. I will give them to my G+ peeps.

I’m going to make a short and sweet point about #SWTOR . If the developing took a step back and thought about #SWTOR before they went in production maybe we would have a little different outlook on the game.
2) The two starting areas for both sides should be playable for you at the start you should have a quest that brings you to the other starting area it adds to the feel of the game.
3) Had a real WvW planet at level 50. They missed the mark big time on that. ( you can’t use or destroy any objects on #IIUM )
Maybe big production teams need to start looking at the little people in the gaming world for so input about a game ?
Hey everyone, color crystals in SWTOR are popular vanity items ever since the game’s launch. With the arrival of patch 1.2, we saw the introduction of several new crystal colors (Black-Orange, Black-Purple) as well as upgrades for several existing colors to their endgame stats (+41 crit/power/endurance/expertise).
Unfortunately, the method to obtain these sometime rare color crystals are poorly documented and there are quite a lot of rumors and speculations. The goal of this guide is to organize all the information that is out there and hopefully bring awareness on the search for some of the more elusive crystals.
There are 4 variants of endgame color crystals, each one with a suffix
- Eviscerating: +41 crit
- Hawkeye: +41 power
- Indestructible: +41 endurance
- War Hero: +41 expertise
Together, the Eviscerating, Hawkeye, and Indestructible crystals are called PvE crystals.
- Cyan (Light-Blue) color crystal with +41 PvE stats can be obtained from Republic Columi level weapons but the Purple color crystal with +41 PvE stats cannot be obtained from the Empire Columi level weapons (you get crystals with +31 stats instead). Exception is one single weapon called Punisher
on the empire side that have the +41 crit purple crystal.
- Half of the War Hero weapons (Knight/Warrior & Inquisitor/Consular) have Red (Empire)/Green (Republic) +41 expertise crystals while the other half (Bounty Hunter/Trooper, Smuggler/Agent) have orange +41 expertise crystals.
Anyways, lets start with an image with all the color crystals for easy viewing/drooling!
These crystals with basic colors have a white core inside them.
|Advanced Red War Hero’s Crystal
|Crystal (BoP) can be purchased directly off the PvP vendor for 500 Warzone Commendations or ripped from Empire War Hero PvP weapons (Warrior and Inquisitor weapons).|
|Advanced Red Hawkeye Crystal||Schematic (artifice BoP, BoE end-product) can be purchased from the Daily Commendation vendor for 20 Daily Commendation
|Advanced Blue War Hero’s Crystal||Schematic rumored to be a random drop obtained from the Grade 6 PvP crafting box sold at the PvP Vendor for 1k Warzone Commendations. The BoE version of the crystal was obtainable pre 1.2 from a vendor on the fleet that no longer exists.|
|Advanced Blue Hawkeye Crystal||Schematic (artifice BoP, BoE end-product) can be purchased from the Daily Commendation vendor for 20 Daily Commendation or the PvP vendor for 450 Warzone Commendations|
|Advanced Yellow War Hero’s Crystal||Schematic rumored to be a random drop obtained from the Grade 6 PvP crafting box sold at the PvP Vendor for 1k Warzone Commendations. The BoE version of the crystal was obtainable pre 1.2 from a vendor on the fleet that no longer exists.|
|Advanced Yellow Hawkeye Crystal||Schematic (artifice BoP, BoE end-product) can be purchased from the PvP vendor for 450 Warzone Commendations
|Advanced Green War Hero’s Crystal||Crystal (BoP) can be purchased directly off the PvP vendor for 500 Warzone Commendations or ripped from Republic War Hero PvP weapons (Knight and Consular weapons).|
|Advanced Green Hawkeye/Eviscerating/Indestructible||Schematic not in-game at this time (source). No weapons found with +41 green crystal that contains PvE stats.|
|Advanced Orange War Hero’s Crystal||The devs have said that schematics for this particular crystal is currently not in-game at this time (source). However, the War Hero mainhands and offhands for agents/smugglers and bounty hunters/troopers have these orange War Hero crystals in them so if you want it badly, you know where to get them!
|Advanced Orange Hawkeye Crystal
|Schematics for artifice can be obtained from the Primal Destroyer in Belsavis (source). Crystals can also be ripped from Campaign weapons obtained from Hardmode Explosive Conflict.|
Cyan (also known as Light – Blue)
|Advanced Cyan War Hero’s Crystal||Confirmed to come from the Grade 6 PvP crafting box sold at the PvP Vendor for 1k Warzone Commendations (source). The BoE version of the crystal was obtainable pre 1.2 from a vendor on the fleet that no longer exists.|
|Advanced Cyan Eviscerating Crystal||Can be ripped from Columi level Republic mainhands/offhands. The BoE version of the crystal was obtainable pre 1.2 from a vendor on the fleet that no longer exists. There have being reports of people being able to craft the cyan crystals with +41 PvE stats but so far no solid evidence.|
|Advanced Purple War Hero’s Crystal||Rumored to come from the Grade 6 PvP crafting box sold at the PvP Vendor for 1k Warzone Commendations (source). The BoE version of the crystal was obtainable pre 1.2 from a vendor on the fleet that no longer exists.|
|Advanced Purple Eviscerating/Hawkeye/Indestructible||Unlike the Republic cyan color crystal equivalent, the Columi grade weapons on the empire side do not provide +41 purple crystals with PvE stats (give +31 stats instead). This is probably a bug and will be fixed sometime in the future. The BoE version of the crystal was obtainable pre 1.2 from a vendor on the fleet that no longer exists. There have being reports of people being able to craft the purple crystals with +41 PvE stats but so far no solid evidence (source)|
Magenta (also known as Light- Red)
|War Hero||Not seen in game.|
|Advanced Magenta Eviscerating Crystal||Schematics can be found either as random drop off trash mobs in Black Hole area of Corellia (source)or from Nightmare Pilgrim on Voss.|
|Advanced White Eviscerating Crystal||No longer available in game. Previously sold for 2.5 million on a vendor that has been removed from the game with the arrival of patch 1.2|
Black Core Colors
|Advanced Black-Red War Hero’s Crystal||Crystal can be purchased directly from the PvP Vendor for 150k and 1950 Warzone Commendations.|

|Advanced Black-Yellow Hawkeye Crystal||Pre-order crystal vendor – 250k credits|
Black Green (Rakghoul)
|Advanced Black-Green War Hero’s Crystal||Rakghoul event, crystal is BoE and can be purchased on the GTN|
|Advanced Black-Green Hawkeye Crystal||Rakghoul event, crystal is BoE and can be purchased on the GTN|
SE Black Green (Razer Hardware)
|SE Black Green War Hero’s Crystal||If you have the original Razer SE crystal, you can purchase the upgraded versions at the Dromund Kaas/Coruscant mods vendor for 250k|
|Advanced Black-Orange War Hero’s Crystal||PvP Vendor, 200k, 1500 Ranked Warzone Commendations and 1500 PvP Rating|
|Advanced Black-Orange Hawkeye Crystal||Random drop from Explosive Conflict Operation|
|Advanced Black-Purple War Hero’s Crystal||PvP Vendor, 250k, 3000 Ranked Warzone Commendations and 2000 PvP Rating|
|Advanced Black-Purple Hawkeye Crystal||Random drop from Explosive Conflict Operation (Hardmode is more likely than storymode) (source)|

If I was on the planing board for SWTOR first expansion . I would add a thrid faction and it would be called the Hutt faction. Then the game would have good, evil and the wild card . OWPvP would be unbelievably great ! All new quest and story lines that have nothing to do with Good vs Evil. It would bring fresh air to a very good straight forward MMO.
As I’m sure most of you can guess by the title of this piece, I spent a little time in another MMO this weekend. That doesn’t mean that I will be trading in my Jawas and Wookiees for Asura and Charr. However, I will admit that Star Wars: The Old Republic does not contain everything I want from an MMO. That’s also not say that Guild Wars 2 has all those missing elements. But I believe there are quite a few things that both of these great MMOs can learn from each other to make the overall MMO experience better for everyone.
