Triumph unveils bespoke ‘Venom’ custom bike based on KONAMI’s METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN!

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced a special creative partnership with Triumph, which has seen the motorcycle specialists produce a stunning bespoke ‘Venom’ bike thematically linked to KONAMI’s forthcoming METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN title.
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN is scheduled to be release on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®3, Xbox 360™, and Xbox One™ on September 1st. To celebrate the game’s launch – and continuing a relationship that has seen Triumph bikes featured in METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER, METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS and METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER – Triumph’s bespoke VTB:1/Venom unit reflects the hard-edged and stripped-back edge of the broken but unbowed hero that returns for the new game.

The ‘Venom’ bike is inspired by the legendary Triumph Bonneville T100 ridden by Snake in METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN, and is a custom build, created by the Triumph team. Their brief was to bring to life Snake’s stripped back edge via unique styling and detailing, including game-inspired graphics and the renowned Diamond Dogs logo. The resulting ‘Venom’ is a mission-ready bike tailored to the wilds of Afghanistan and Africa.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN’s Diamond Dogs pack leader has little need for civil niceties, so mirrors, speedometer, and rev counter were quickly stripped off with function defining form. From there on in, this stock T100 Bonneville has evolved to become the ultimate hot rod.

Off-road duties are handled with ease thanks to custom rims fitted with dirt-focused rubber in the form of Continental TKC80 tyres. The stock saddle has been cut down and refinished in Sneaking Suit neoprene and carbon Kevlar leather inspired by Snake’s iconic combat wear. A heavy duty ammo rack loops around the back of the saddle, offering both protection and somewhere secure to bolt down an extra case or two of .50 cal.

A yellowed-out JVB Rumbler headlight and external heavy-duty fork springs give an aggressive dimension to the front end, while the profile is exaggerated by the lack of front mudguard. At the rear, the cut-down rear guard and an exclamation mark-shaped tail-light add to the individuality of the machine. Colour-matched callipers and cam cover are additional stand-out details, whilst the custom slash-cut exhausts deliver a soundtrack that lives up to the looks. Details such as Triumph Tiger off-road foot pegs, Renthal performance sprocket, machined throttle body caps and Triumph sport levers all contribute to making this bike as unique as it’s rider. Finally a hard-wearing stencilled matte black Diamond Dogs livery clearly links bike and owner – creating a Bonneville fit for Snake.

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced that it will premiere a live gameplay presentation of the highly anticipated METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event in Los Angeles.

E3 is the focal point of the interactive entertainment industry, taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center between June 10th – 12th. Located at Booth #701, KONAMI will host a series of presentations by invitation only that will mark the first in-depth demonstration of Hideo Kojima’s latest, and most ambitious, addition to the METAL GEAR SOLID universe.

Concluding the METAL GEAR SOLID V experience, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN focuses on the hero of the series, Snake, and follows the events of the recently released prologue, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. The presentation highlights series Creator and Director Hideo Kojima’s ground-breaking vision of creating the largest and most technically accomplished title in the series’ history.

The gameplay presentation will showcase approximately 30 minutes of gameplay, focusing on new features and a short walkthrough of one of the game’s major locations. Members of the Kojima Productions team will be playing the game live in real-time, showing key elements of the expansive open-world environment, highlighting the sheer attention to detail, and demonstrating the freedom offered to players in the game.

The presentation will also illustrate how the dynamic environment, including the changing weather and the differences between night and day impacts the famed stealth-based gameplay. The freedom of movement, use of various modes of transport and key infiltration techniques will also be shown in their many forms. Attendees will also witness how specific actions have a marked affect on the game’s story.

In addition to the gameplay presentation, KONAMI has also revealed a new trailer for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. The exclusive new footage, fresh from its acclaim at Sony’s E3 showcase, highlights the fall of Snake as the series takes on a darker, more serious tone. The cinematic trailer depicts the harsh realities of war and its many casualties.

Previously format-exclusive Jamais-Vu and MGS1 Déjà-Vu missions now available across all formats

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has detailed a key update to its METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES title for PlayStation®4, Xbox One, PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360, which unlocks previously format-exclusive elements to all users.

Available on May 1st, the free update gives PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®4 users access to the ‘Jamais-Vu mission’, which was previously only available within the Xbox One and Xbox 360 editions. The Jamais-Vu mission re-introduces METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE star, Raiden, to the series, in a special mission set within METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES’ containment camp.

The new mission sees Raiden charged with investigating an alleged alien incursion, where – forgoing his famed katana blade – he is dropped on the edge of the camp, and must gain access and secure firm evidence of the alien presence. The aliens – dubbed ‘Snatchers’ by the intelligence group – are externally disguised as camp guards, but produce an inhuman X-Ray when tagged using the iDroid app or Raiden’s binoculars. Raiden must locate and eliminate the alien imposters while evading capture by the unaware humans charged with guarding the base.

Conversely, Xbox One and Xbox 360 users will also be able to access the previously Sony-exclusive ‘MGS1 Déjà-Vu mission’ when they update. The MGS1 Déjà-Vu mission celebrates the heritage of the acclaimed METAL GEAR SOLID series by creating a bespoke mission that harks back to the series’ first 3D entry. The mission visually references key events from the original PS one™ classic and tasks the user with reproducing famous scenes from the original METAL GEAR SOLID. As players recreate these iconic moments, a flashback system reproduces the original reduced polygon graphical style of the original game and introduces familiar enemies and recognisable weather conditions for added authenticity.

These new stages further enhance the replay value of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. The missions tie in perfectly with the game’s 1975 setting and expand on the game’s basis as being a prologue to the forthcoming METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. Additionally, Kojima Productions has also used this update to improve display items and menu aberration.

As first part of the METAL GEAR SOLID V experience, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES focuses on the legendary Big Boss – a stealth operative – as he infiltrates a secret Cuban prison base called ‘Camp Omega’ on a rescue mission. Alone behind enemy lines, the game reveals a total freedom of movement within its missions, with users choosing how they engage guards, the route they pick, and which prisoners they rescue. The game’s unique open world and many possibilities encourage the player to revisit its content again and again to discover its secrets and features an online global ranking system where players can compare their achievements against others. It also has unique second-screen elements, via the free iDroid app, which allow users to sync maps, summon air support and use found cassettes on a linked iOS, Android or Smart Glass system.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES has already been hailed as one of the key games of 2014. Series creator Hideo Kojima has celebrated the heritage of the acclaimed METAL GEAR SOLID franchise across numerous Sony gaming systems, by creating a bespoke mission for the newest addition to the PlayStation® family.

Users will be able to access a unique ‘MGS1 Deja-Vu’ mission that references key events from the original PSOne® classic, METAL GEAR SOLID. The exclusive mission tasks the user with reproducing famous scenes from the original game. As players recreate the iconic moments, a flashback system reproduces the original graphical style of the original PSOne® game – complete with greatly reduced ‘vintage’ polygon count – and introduces familiar enemies and weather conditions for added authenticity.

The mission will be available to both digital and boxed users, and will ultimately let players assume the appearance of the classic ‘Solid Snake’ within the GROUND ZEROES universe once proper conditions are met.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES is scheduled to be released in Spring 2014, and acts as a prequel to events in METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. Announced over two years ago, KONAMI premiered a new trailer for METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE at the prestigious Video Game Awards on December 10th, and is now ready to outline the direction the action title is taking and detailing those behind it. METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE is a stunning action title, produced by Kojima Productions and developed by Platinum Games. Kojima Productions has created the story for the game, managed the cutscenes and voice-over sessions, and Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa has created the character designs. Platinum Games will focus on the game design and programming elements, under the supervision of Kojima Productions. A special documentary piece will debut on www.metalgearsolid.com this Tuesday, 5:00PM (PST) that will reveal more on the development collaboration details between Kojima Productions and Platinum Games.

Hideo Kojima, Head of Kojima Productions and creator of the Metal Gear series, personally chose Platinum Games to create the new title, and Metal Gear Solid veteran Yuji Korekado has been appointed to oversee the project for Kojima productions and will work closely with Platinum’s Atsushi Inaba. Hideo Kojima will act as Executive Producer. These appointments follow the decision to reposition METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE as a more action-orientated title than initially planned, with Platinum Games creating a game where the player has total control of the main character – the cybernetically-enhanced Raiden from METAL GEAR SOLID 4: Guns of the Patriots – and a total freedom of how users control him. As such, the game title has been subtly rebranded to reflect the more action-based content than in previous Metal Gear Solid titles.

As seen in the trailer, the result is a breath-taking action title wherein the player guides Raiden through a series of beautifully-realized stages. Raiden is armed with a High Frequency katana blade which he uses to cut through anything that stands in his way. The three-minute trailer shows Raiden’s incredible level of power and control as he cuts through enemies and various obstacles alike using high-speed combination attacks, and using free-running skills to bypass groups of adversaries to give him a strategic advantage and catch them off-guard. As the game progresses, Raiden’s physical prowess is increasingly called upon and tested, with huge enemies appearing that require specific tactics to disable.

KONAMI’s five-game compilation sneaks on to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 3rd

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH today confirmed the release date of its eagerly-awaited METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection. The package, which features five classic METAL GEAR titles, will be released for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360® on February 3rd, 2012.

Created by the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection showcases some of the most popular METAL GEAR SOLID titles in true HD for the first time.
