We’re proud to announce the launch of a full Rockstar Games Social Club site reboot with totally new features designed to let each of you make your mark as a member of the Rockstar community. The new launch includes custom personal Social Club user profiles, an all-new Friends system with public and direct messaging, the ability to link in and login with your Facebook and Twitter accounts, Newswire activity and reply notifications and much more – plus coming this Wednesday will be the additional launch of Social Club CREWS where you’ll be able to register, create and rally your Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Crew ahead of time. Read on for more detail on today’s features launch…

YOUR SOCIAL CLUB PROFILE PAGE –  Get in there and personalize your own Social Club profile page, complete with status updates, a display of your recent stats and accomplishments across your linked Social Club enabled games, and proper Friend linking with a Wall that updates your Social Club activity and lets you cheer and jeer your mates here at Social Club, as well as easily plan multiplayer sessions or whatever you’d like.

Our ardent Newswire commenters will also notice that you can now click on a Social Club member username in comments, and you’ll be transported directly to the profile page of that person. Once CREWS registration launches this Wednesday, you can then recruit one another into Crews to team up for Gang Wars or do battle against one another in Team Deathmatch to be revved up for Max Payne 3 Multiplayer on day one.

UPDATE YOUR ACTIVITY FEED – Keep tabs on all your Friends latest accomplishments via your real-time activity feed. With the release of Max Payne 3, you’ll be able to let Friends know each time you’ve unlocked a Trophy/Achievement, throw down the gauntlet for a multiplayer session, or see when a friend has added a new soldier to their CREW (come Wednesday). LINK IN & LOG IN WITH FACEBOOK OR TWITTER – You can also link in and display your other profiles from Facebook and Twitter (as well as your PlayStation Network IDs and XBL Gamertags) direct to your page and starting Wednesday, you’ll be able to share Social Club activity from your Wall to those networks. 200,000 ILLUMINATI, DRAGON AND TEMPLAR INITIATES NOW FIGHTING THE SECRET WAR

– Over 50 MILLION agents deployed in ‘The Secret War’, a unique social experience that gives a glimpse of the conflict in ‘The Secret World’ MMO launching June 19 –

Durham, USA – May 3rd, 2012 – Funcom is excited to share that 200,000 participants are now engaged in battle through ‘The Secret War’, a unique browser-based social experience that draws upon the conflict between the three secret societies in Funcom’s upcoming massively multiplayer online game ‘The Secret World’. Launching on June 19th, 2012, ‘The Secret World’ MMO pitches players against each other as they fight for the power to control the world for their secret society, and through ‘The Secret War’ social experience, participants can get a taste of the epic conflict that hits on June 19th.

In this unique social experience participants recruit their friends to join the battle and use them as agents on a world map to spread influence for one of the three secret societies: the Illuminati, the Dragon or the Templar. While doing so they unlock items that can be used in ‘The Secret World’ MMO at launch, items such as clothing, weapons, elixirs and even in-game titles. Through this social experience, participants get to engage themselves deeper in the conflict that they will get to play in ‘The Secret World’ MMO. They can also win a trip to the Funcom studio and even the chance to have their name in the game world.

‘The Secret War’ has now been raging for two weeks. Here are some interesting stats so far:

  • Over 200,000 gamers have registered and become participants in the war
  • The experience has had over 1.2 million visits in total
  • Each participant spends 20 minutes on average playing at each visit
  • Over 50 million agents have been deployed by the 200,000 participants

Since launch on April 18th additional strategic layers have been added to the experience and participants must now work together toward a common goal every week. The secret society that performs best by the end of each week will see all their members be rewarded with unique items that can be used in ‘The Secret World’ MMO. This week the factions battle for the Heart of Africa health-boosting talisman.

“The success of ‘The Secret War’ shows that the conflict between the world’s secret societies has universal appeal,” says Funcom SVP of Sales & Marketing Morten Larssen. “This conflict has always been a key driver for activity in our own community, and we are excited to see that more and more people are coming in to join the conflict from outside the community as well. The conflict between the three secret societies adds a whole new dimension to MMO gameplay and we are excited to be able to have gamers take part in that conflict even before the launch of ‘The Secret World’.”

‘The Secret World’ is consistently mentioned as one of the most anticipated online games in development, and Funcom reported in February that over 750,000 gamers had registered for the ongoing beta testing by then. ‘The Secret World’ breaks new grounds and genre conventions by introducing a modern-day setting, a story-focused MMO experience, and a freeform progression system using no classes and no levels.

Funcom announces full week of Illuminati content, including video, developer Q&A and more

Durham, USA – January 9th, 2012 – Today Funcom kicks off the Week of the Illuminati, a full week of focus on the most secret of the three secret societies that players can join in the upcoming modern-day massively multiplayer online game  ‘The Secret World’. Throughout the week Funcom will be serving information, artworks, screenshots, a video, and a developer Q&A on Facebook.
Which secret society do you belong with? Find out by taking  the initiation test!

The Illuminati are invisible puppet-masters and corporate manipulators, and they crave power and wealth by any means necessary. They may have ancient roots, but they remain forever young and hungry. The Illuminati’s golden agents enjoy power, money and glamour – but the real power they offer you goes beyond that: Information worked from every civilian, government and clandestine organization in the world.

To kick off the week, Funcom has released a batch of new Illuminati themed artworks that can be found on the  official website and on our  pressFTP. For the developer Q&A that will be held on Facebook on January 15th, gamers everywhere can already start submitting their questions today  via the ‘Questions & Answers’ app on the page.
‘The Secret World’ is consistently mentioned as one of the most anticipated MMOs in development, breaking new grounds and genre conventions by introducing a modern-day setting, a story-focused MMO experience, and a freeform progression system using no classes and no levels. Last year Funcom announced that over 500,000 gamers are now registered for the ongoing beta testing. ‘The Secret World’ is published by Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and will ship in April 2012.

GamersFirst’s Wasteland MMO Offers Players New Content, a Last Chance at Veteran Rewards, Subscription Upgrades and New Spiked Chopper Vehicle

Irvine, Calif., October 10, 2011 – A leading publisher of Free2Play® massively multiplayer online games, GamersFirst (www.gamersfirst.com) today announced that its award-winning post-apocalyptic action MMO Fallen Earth will complete its transition to Free2Play this week. Starting October 12, players will be able to login and experience the entire game without needing to purchase a retail copy or activate a subscription. Along with the change in business model comes a brand new World Event system, expanding the game’s sandbox offerings with dynamically generated events that can happen anywhere in the game world.

For the first time since the launch of this fan-favorite MMO, Fallen Earth players can now choose how much to invest in their chosen pastime. As is true for all of GamersFirst’s Free2Play games, there are no level caps or content limits for free players, making the same rich sandbox gameplay available to everyone.

Players with active subscriptions prior to the October 12 Free2Play transition will automatically convert to the top-tier Commander Premium Subscription, and qualify for all of the Fallen Earth Veteran reward packages, including monthly gifts, wardrobe slots, and a permanent discount on the Commander Premium subscription.

“It’s always a gamble when a company takes an existing MMO from subscription to Free2Play, but the Fallen Earth community and its veteran players have been overwhelmingly supportive,” said Joseph Willmon, associate game director for GamersFirst. “We wanted to find a way to extend a thank you to subscribers for their continued support and feedback.”

World Events
The wasteland can be an unpredictable place, and with that comes the need for towns and settlements to adapt to the changing needs of their community. This day-to-day struggle is now represented in Fallen Earth in the form of World Events. The optional quests will pop up randomly across the world, offering players the chance to experience new mission objectives and earn hard-to-find special rewards and experience. Be it crafting medical supplies for a town or fending off an assault from the mutated beasts of the area, World Events adds additional layers of immersive gameplay to the rich world of Fallen Earth.

Premium Subscriptions Detailed
Players who elect to purchase one of the three Premium Subscriptions available gain increased resource gathering and crafting speeds, experience gain, multiple character slots, and more. The top-tier Commander Premium Subscription also includes an industry-first stackable group buff that extends some of the Commander benefits to every member of the group, including free players.

More information about the Premium Subscription and individual pricing can be found at www.fallenearth.com.

Spiked Chopper Veteran Reward
Active and returning players will find a special reward waiting for them in the form of the brand new, exclusive Spiked Chopper, designed especially to honor their support. Designed for the harsh landscape of the post-apocalypse, the Spiked Chopper allows players to travel from encampment to settlement in style while still fending off the occasional mutated beast or hostile clone.

Fallen Earth is a Free2Play post-apocalyptic MMO set near the Grand Canyon in 2156. A hybrid third-person shooter and role-playing game, Fallen Earth features real-time twitch-based combat, six factions, a classless advancement system and a powerful crafting system in which players can make 95 percent of in-game items. With more than 1000 square kilometers of territory to explore, Fallen Earth players can experience an unparalleled game world while completing more than 5,500 game missions, including the ability to capture towns and territory. The game features a four-tiered membership system that caters to players of all levels of engagement. With the launch of the Alpha County expansion, clones of the wasteland can now reach level 55 as they battle the game world and each other to limited and strained resources. Fallen Earth is rated M-Mature.

The great King Arthur has crushed his adversaries in the South but the realm of the Once and Future King still has its limit. The lands beyond the Forest of Bedegraine are wild, ruled by no one, haunted by the old gods  who fought and bled here in times long past.

Fallen Champions bridges the gap between King Arthur I and II with a tale of three brave souls. Sir Lionel, a brave knight from Britannia on a quest to rescue a damsel in distress. Lady Corrigan of the Sidhe, a creature of the twilight seeking the secret pathways that could lead her back to her lost home of Tir na nÓg. The third is Drest the Chosen, a shaman of the North, driven by visions of greatness and voices in the night.  A knight, an enchantress, and a prophet – these three will become champions of a forgotten battle that began long, long ago.

Features

  • Follow three unique heroes, each with their own storyline featuring adventure quests and epic fights. The fates of these three heroes are intertwined, and their quests lead up to one massive battle under extraordinary circumstances.
  • A variety of battle types fought on unique, beautifully crafted battlemaps, ranging from smaller tactical skirmishes to grand engagements against superior numbers.
  • A dark and gripping fantasy tale that bridges the gap between King Arthur and King Arthur II, set in an ancient region of Britannia, beyond the well-known territories of King Arthur – The Role-playing Wargame.

Star Wars: The Old Republic – Beta Testing Weekends

Beta Testing Weekends for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ began earlier this month and during our first weekend, we invited more players into testing than we’ve ever invited before in a single weekend! Now we’re getting ready for another Beta Testing Weekend, starting on October 7th and finishing on October 11th. With increased invite numbers from the first weekend, even more of you will get to play The Old Republic.

If you don’t get invited to this weekend’s test, don’t worry. More Beta Testing Weekends will occur before the launch of The Old Republic. To have an opportunity to get into future Beta Testing Weekends, be sure to sign up for future testing on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com and opt-in for game testing.

Invites to the Beta Testing Weekend are being sent this week. If you are selected, an email invite will be sent to the email address associated with your Star Wars: The Old Republic account. STAR WARS: The Old Republic – Sept 10th Beta Weekend is not happening!!!

Hello all,There is no Beta Testing Weekend scheduled for this weekend. There may be further Beta Testing Weekends during September, but we’re not going to guarantee it. The weekend that just finished was really our first dry run of Beta Testing Weekends as a whole, and we have plenty of data to crunch, and decisions to make before we start things up again.Further to that, as Chris Collins explained in another thread, we are about to roll out a major new build for The Old Republic. That build won’t be ready for this weekend. Just as we did not feel it was a good decision to ask potential EU testers to download our client only to have to download it again, the same applies for this weekend.

That does not mean, however, that as soon as our new build is available we’ll be rolling out a Beta Testing Weekend immediately. As with any new build of the game, we need to get feedback from internal testing and our ongoing Game Testing program before rolling it out to a massive audience. That process takes a while, and that time varies depending on how testing goes.

We rolled out this previous weekend as a relatively small scale event; from now we will do bigger and bigger events, but that doesn’t mean it happens every weekend. When we do resume, we’ll be inviting many more people in.

While many of you are excited and anxious to know what’s happening regarding Testing Weekends, I want to point out that a lot of posts on the subject with a lack of corresponding posts from us does not mean that we’re not listening, or not aware of your interest. It shows your interest in the topic, which is understandably high, but we will not always be able to react instantaneously.

In the past couple of days we’ve been preparing a comprehensive FAQ regarding Game Testing Weekends as a whole, along with some details about the weekend that just happened. We’ll post that tomorrow – in all languages, as we know the subject is of interest to everyone.
