CRYSIS 3 MULTIPLAYER BETA COMING JANUARY 29 AND SCREENSHOTS !

Stalk Your Prey in the Urban Jungle of New York City in the Multiplatform Beta for the First Blockbuster Shooter of 2013

GUILDFORD, UK. – Jan. 23, 2013 – Electronic Arts Inc.and award-winning developer Crytek GmbH  today announced an open multiplayer beta* for the premiere sandbox shooter experience, Crysis®3, will be available starting January 29th for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC. Including two team-based modes and two maps, the extensive beta will give players an opportunity to master the superpowers of the Nanosuit. The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will be available for two weeks and give players the chance to get a leg up on the competition before Crysis 3 launches on February 22 in Europe.

“With Crysis 3 we are delivering the deepest, most robust Crysis multiplayer experience yet,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “We have listened closely to our fans and have evolved the multiplayer in Crysis 3 by adding a host of new gameplay features including the unique Hunter mode, deadly new weapons like the Predator bow, deeper loadout and unlock options, enhanced upgrade systems and more social features like the New York Feed. Top it all off with the ultimate weapon in the Nanosuit and you have a multiplayer experience that is unlike anything else out there.”

Beginning on January 29 and ending on February 12 the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will feature two of the eight modes included in Crysis 3. In Crash Site, players must secure and defend specific locations, earning points along the way for kills and their ability to hold those locations. The exciting, all-new Hunter mode makes its debut in Crysis 3. This asymmetrical, time based mode pits two players vs. ten (two vs. 14 on PC) in matches that begin with two cloaked hunters stalking 10 opposing CELL troopers. Armed only with enhanced Nanosuits and the lethal Predator bow, hunters must systematically stalk and kill the CELL operatives, who in turn must work together as a team as they fight to stay alive before the round ends. The twist is that once a CELL trooper is killed, that player will then respawn as a hunter, joining the others in their attempt to eliminate the remaining CELL operatives before the clock strikes zero. The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will also showcase two of the game’s twelve visually stunning maps, Airport and Museum. Both will provide players a taste of the lush, urban rainforest and tactical sandbox that awaits them under the Liberty Dome of New York City.
Also included in the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta is the New York Feed, a brand new in-game social feed that will showcase the accomplishments of gamers and their friends while offering dynamic challenges to complete. Crysis 3 multiplayer also contains exciting new gameplay features including Rip & Throw, which allows players to interact with the elements of the environment to use as weapons or shields as well as the chance to control the Pinger, a fearsome alien tripod war machine that can be used to devastating effect.
Powered by Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE 3, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of ‘Prophet’ as he returns to New York only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics, including the Nanosuit. Equipped with superhuman powers including cloaking, armor and enhanced visor abilities, the Nanosuit is the ultimate tool that allows players to assess, adapt and attack whatever the 7 Wonders throws at them. In addition to the Nanosuit, players will wield the powerful Predator bow and devastating alien weaponry to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.
Fans who pre-order Crysis 3 before launch will receive an automatic upgrade to the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition, as well as a free digital download to the game that started it all, Crysis**  for Xbox 360, PS3 or PC. CRYTEK AND EA BRING CRYSIS TO XBOX LIVE!

Guildford, UK. – September 9, 2011 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and award-winning developer, Crytek GmbH, announced today that the critically-acclaimed Crysis® franchise will debut a new experience on Xbox LIVE® and PlayStation® Network. In October 2011, shooter fans will be able to download a modified and enhanced version of the award-winning single-player campaign from the original Crysis, remastered for console players using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CryENGINE®3 with all new lighting, effects and other visual optimizations. For just £15.99 SRP or 1600 Microsoft Points, gamers will download the most robust and exciting Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network game to date.

In 2007 and again in 2011, critics around the world hailed Crysis and Crysis 2 as titles that ushered in the next-generation of gaming with jaw-dropping visuals, industry leading technology and groundbreaking sandbox gameplay, featuring the super-powerful Nanosuit. Today, the original, award-winning 2007 single-player campaign has been remastered for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network with optimized Nanosuit controls, fine-tuned combat and full stereoscopic 3D support.

“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”

In Crysis, gamers will travel to 2019 where a team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. Now with hope rapidly fading, the US and North Koreans must join forces to battle the alien menace, fighting epic battles through stunning, photorealistic tropical jungles and frozen landscapes.

Crytek’s Expensive ‘Gift’ To Its High-End Players

Crytek's Expensive 'Gift' To Its High-End Players

When Crytek released its first-person shooter Crysis in 2007, it was — and in many ways still is — a benchmark for high-end PCs. It was one of the first commercial games to utilize the Direct3D 10 framework of DirectX 10, and playing the game at its maximum settings was practically impossible for any consumer-level computer. Even the game’s minimum requirements were above what many gamers had under the hood at the time.

Crysis 1‘s intention was, if I were to play it three years later, it looks great. And it does, actually, it fulfilled that. But it made it difficult for entry-level players,” Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli related to Gamasutra. “So with Crysis 2, we took a different direction, and it backfired a little bit.”

The sequel was much more accessible (thanks in part to its cross-development on consoles), so much so that it didn’t even support DirectX 10, staying safely in DX9 territory. The change disappointed many of the original game’s fans, who came to equate the franchise with cutting-edge graphical performance.

Now, three months later, Crytek is getting set to release a substantial patch to address the needs of these players, adding support for DirectX 11, and with that comes tessellation and displacement mapping, HDR motion blur, parallax occulsion mapping, and many other tweaks and enhancements, including a high-res texture upgrade. It is, he said, an attempt to “please everybody.”

Yerli admitted that there was no profit to be made from the time and money put into the patch, as the game is unlikely to sell many more units based on the free upgrade.

“This is much more like a gift to the high-end community,” said Yerli. “And I think gamers will appreciate that. It lifts up Crysis 2 and gives a sneak peak of how PC gaming will evolve in the future, if you support a high-end preference.”

The Crysis 2 version 1.9 patch will be available Monday, June 27th. A version of the patch was available on Crytek’s test environment as recently as Wednesday, but has since been pulled.

Crysis 2 Removed From Steam!?

 Crysis 2 Removed From Steam

EA’s first-person shooter Crysis 2, released earlier this year, has been removed from digital distribution service Steam and now sports an ‘Only on Origin’ tag on the EA site.

However, despite the ‘Only on Origin’ tag, Crysis 2 is still available on Direct2Drive and Impulse, and has only been removed from Steam.

Released earlier this week, Alice: Madness Returns also states that it is available only on Origin, EA’s new digital distribution service, although the official page on the EA site says that it is only available on Origin until June 17, indicating that the game will appear on other sites later this week.

Origin is a desktop application through which users can create an account and access their game library via an internet connection, much like Valve’s dominant Steam platform.

EA launched the service earlier this month, with more than 150 titles offered from launch day. The company noted that it will be adding many more titles in the coming months, including exclusive limited edition copies of upcoming EA titles.

It also confirmed that the digital download version of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be exclusively available via Origin.

[Update: EA has issued a response to the game’s removal, saying that it was “not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA,” saying instead that the game was removed because an agreement that developer Crytek made with “another download service” violates an unspecified rule Steam has for its distribution partners.

Valve has not responded to requests by Gamasutra for clarification. An EA spokesperson provided this statement to Gamasutra:

It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis II from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA.

Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis II from Steam.

Crysis II continues to be available on several other download services including Amazon, GameStop and Origin.com.“]
