– Over 50 print and online media outlets running exclusive previews of ‘The Secret World’ following the first extensive hands-on time with the game –
Durham, USA – November 23nd, 2011– Funcom is both humbled and excited about the positive reactions from the gaming press following the first press hands-on play testing for the upcoming modern-day massively multiplayer online game ‘The Secret World’. Gaming journalists from all over the world were invited to play ‘The Secret World’ last month, experiencing content such as London, the town of Kingsmouth, the Polaris dungeon, as well as player vs. player combat in Eldorado.
“The glowing reception from the gaming press is truly a testament to the game’s quality and potential,” says Funcom SVP of Sales & Marketing, Morten Larssen. “It is a humbling experience having some of the most experienced gamers in the world play testing your game for a full day, but also a tremendously rewarding one when we see that so many of them walked away from it with excitement. Their feedback is also valuable in our ongoing efforts to further improve and enhance ‘The Secret World’.”

In addition to the numerous online previews surfacing this week, a total of 14 print magazines from all over the world will also be running their hands-on previews. This includes the upcoming issue of PC Gamer US, and Funcom announced last week that ‘The Secret World’ dominates the cover of this issue.
‘The Secret World’ is consistently mentioned as one of the most anticipated MMOs in development, breaking new grounds and genre conventions by introducing a modern-day setting, a story-focused MMO experience, and a freeform progression system using no classes and no levels. Recently Funcom announced that over 500,000 gamers are now registered for the ongoing beta testing. ‘The Secret World’ is published by Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and will ship in April 2012.
