FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Closed Beta Phase 2 Now Underway
We are pleased to announce that the second phase of closed beta testing for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn < http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/> on PC is now underway! Running across weekends throughout April, those lucky enough to get into this early beta phase will be able to explore the rich forest environments of the city state of Gridania, with new features such as PC gamepad support and personal Chocobo mounts, as well as brand new Full Active Time Events, now joining the beta fold.
There’s lots more to come from the beta testing phases, with the PS3 version and a huge amount of new content and environments to explore arriving with beta phase 3 later this summer, so keep an eye out for more news and announcements in the coming weeks.

Square Enix Signs Long-Term Unreal Engine Licensing Agreement
Multi-title deal provides Square Enix developers with full access to Unreal Engine 3 and Unreal Engine 4 technology across its studios
CARY, N.C. (OCTOBER 23, 2012) – Epic Games, Inc. announced today an agreement with Square Enix Co. Ltd. granting Square Enix a group-wide license to develop multiple games with Epic’s award-winning Unreal Engine 3 and its breakthrough Unreal Engine 4 technology.
Epic Games Japan, which is providing local support, worked directly with Square Enix on the new license. This sweeping agreement will supplement Square Enix’s proprietary software and ensure the studio is armed with the most powerful game development tools and technologies available across all major platforms.
“Epic has a strong relationship with Square Enix, and it’s an honor to provide their creative and technical talent with the best game technology available for licensing,” said Taka Kawasaki, territory manager of Epic Games Japan. “We look forward to supporting their developers with world-class tools for years to come.”
“Demons’ Score” for iOS and Android, developed by iNiS and published by Square Enix, was created with Unreal Engine 3.

Gameglobe is a unique browser-based experience that allows players free access to endless game worlds and creative possibilities, all in HD quality. Players can choose to either create their own game or simply play the multitude of levels available at launch.

Exclusive HITMAN: ABSOLUTION Panel with IO Interactive; Hong Kong’s Underworld Explored with First Public Sleeping Dogs Demo
LOS ANGELES (Mar. 29, 2012) — Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced its roster of games for this year’s Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East, set to take place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (Booth #850), from April 6–8.
PAX East attendees are invited to preview and play the following Square Enix titles:
- Sleeping Dogs™ — the free–roaming, undercover thriller set in Hong Kong’s Triad underworld will feature a playable demo that encapsulates the game’s combat, narrative, driving and open world elements.
- THEATRHYTHM™ FINAL FANTASY® — the first–ever music–themed title that commemorates the FINAL FANTASY franchise’s 25th anniversary merges rhythm and role–playing game genres.
- Quantum Conundrum™ — show attendees will be among the first members of the community to play the first–person environmental puzzle game from Airtight Games and Kim Swift, co–creator of Portal.
- HEROES OF RUIN™ — visitors who demo the epic action–adventure title for Nintendo 3DS™ system can receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win their very own Nintendo 3DS™ system; those who upload photos of themselves with hero weaponry props (available at booth) to their own Facebook page can earn another raffle ticket for the drawing.
- WAKFU® — the recently launched MMORPG from Ankama Studios offers attendees the chance to demo 12 available classes. Upon request, the first 1,500 visitors will receive an exclusive PAX East in–game item, as well as two weeks of free premium game time. Fans will also be eligible to spin the WAKFU Prize Wheel for a chance to win branded merchandise.
