What is #GW2Ringer?
Taking inspiration from competitive games in the past, #GW2Ringer is the solution to the problem of teams missing that one person from having a fifth, or forming pick-up groups for tournaments.
Although Guild Wars 2 allows rosters to be comprised of players from differing Worlds, there is no actual way for players to find each other, at least not yet. #GW2Ringer allows teams and players to find each other with ease through IRC. For those un-fimiliar, there have been instances of games that do not have their own system of finding a group or team to play in a competitive setting with. Instead, third-party IRC channels were created to facilitate the finding of ringers or vice versa in the case of a missing team member or creation of a pick-up group. As you can imagine, this is advantageous for several reasons. Examples of these channels span from Counter-Strike to DotA. While it is still possible for ArenaNet to make this an in-game feature, this channel will exist until and after that point as a third-party resource.
The channel is supported by various communities, organizations, teams, and players from Guild Wars 2 subreddit, GW2eSports subreddit, Guild Wars 2 Guru, Boons & Conditions, Team Legacy, Team Paradigm, Super Squad, Alpha Collective, Mostly Harmless, glhf, and Team Synergy. The channel’s community has helped it evolve from just a spam channel into a discussion forum between the most named players in the sPvP game.

Future Plans
#GW2Scrim is in the works for when ArenaNet allows for private rentable servers. Much like #GW2Ringer, the channel will allow team (professional level to quick PUGs) to search for other teams to scrimmage against for practice and, in general, quality opponents.

This is very much a community project, we can use as much support as possible. The more users there are, the more useful the channel becomes.
